Oklahoma City Airport Avis - the worst. - Avis Preferred
I rented a car last week here in Oklahoma City, at the airport. I come here just about every month since i work for the FAA and have frequent training here. Anyways, two trips ago with Avis, i used my personal card to rent from Avis since i didnt have my Government credit card at the time. the trip after that, they charged my government card. This current trip, i gave the female at the front desk my government credit card and my license. I assumed she charged that card as she said it was good to go and assured me i had the government rate and GARS (government car insurance) since i was using my government credit card.
I checked my personal bank account later that night and found that my personal checking account has been charged ($900 something). i came in the next day to fix this issue. I explained to the person at the front desk of what had occurred and he told me that I'd have to wait and deal with it until i return my car. He said that my card just had an authorization hold and they didn't actually charge me yet. I explained that I cant use this money anymore since it's being held and that I wanted it fixed, in a polite way of course. at this time, another employee chimed in and told me the same thing, both rolling their eyes at me appearing annoyed. I asked them kindly to do this again and they took my government card and pretended to charge it. He told me quickly that it was declined and told me, "look, we cant. were done here. bye", waving me off.
I called the bank responsible for my Government card and they informed me there's no reason for my card to be decline and that the Avis employee indeed, did not attempt to charge my card.
I came back to them and it was clear that they were fed up with me. one of the males raised his voice at me and continued to tell me it was out of his hands and that it was my fault and my responsibility to change my credit card preference on my Avis online account. I was pretty fed up at this point, as a customer who brings constant business. I told him that it's unacceptable to try to make excuses for a customer service agents laziness to charge the card provided and just assume that the card prior was the same one.
Also, I never logged into or created my Avis online account until today (by the way, it has NONE of my previous rentals saved on it. NO POINTS!).
At this point, one of the males was extremely red in the face and cut me off everytime i'd try to say something and continually said "im getting my manager", as if that was a threat. It was music to my ears.
The manager tried to give me the same line that they don't have the proper training or capabilities to change the card over. i called him on this bs multiple times and he got annoyed as well and rolled his eyes a plethora of times.
Finally, he decided to call somebody in Avis corporate (or some other branch of Avis?) and got it done. On top of this, i was provided with a car that had all 4 tires COMPLETELY bald. I have exchanged for another car earlier today. If you're traveling to OKC, I strongly advise you stay far far away from Avis car rental.
