Avis Rental Car Complaint

Avis over charged us!
My husband and I rented a mid-size car to attend our family reunion and was quoted an amount to keep the car 4 days and the quote seemed reasonable. When we picked the car up he was told that a major credit card was needed to be able to rent with Avis but that we could use a different form of payment when the car was returned, Our total ended up being 367.10 when we returned the vehicle as agreed. He gave the girl cash for the total and was given a receipt. 6 days later a charge appeared on our statement for the full balance. We went back into the Avis loation that we rented from with our receipt and statement and asked to speak to a manager. After explaining our problem in detail we were then told that there wasn't record of our cash payment and he refused to give us a refund or to allow us to speak to his supervisor, After we tracked down the District area manager we were told the same story and they refused to acknowledge the mistake. We ended up having to dispute the transaction with Bank of America. We will never rent from these crooks again and suggest you do the same if you don't want to pay for your rental twice!!

0 Wow! That happened to us as well. These people are thieves!!! They told my girlfriend that our bank card was only used for identification purposes because the card had to match the driver's license. We made it perfectly clear that we did not want our card charged because we were going to pay cash. After everything was said and done at the end of the rental agreement, we paid cash and our card was also charged. There has to be something we can do about this!! I will never rent a vehicle from them again!
